All households should now have received a letter from Rutland County Council confirming that the Morcott Conservation Area Character Appraisal, carried out this summer, has been reviewed and adopted as supplementary planning guidance.
The conservation area has now been extended to include the whole of the village and open land to the north of High Street down to the tributary of the River Chater and parish boundary. This recognises their importance to the setting of the village, and the importance of the views into and out of the village.
Reflecting the majority view, an Article 4 Direction was NOT pursued.
The statutory legal notice to alter the conservation area boundary appeared in the Rutland Times and in the London Gazette on 30 October 2014, which marked the effective start date for the new conservation area.
