Opera in Morcott: Tickets on Sale

Lovers of light opera have a treat in store on Saturday 17 June 2017, when a group of musical friends – Amici – present Gilbert & Sullivan’s Trial by Jury and other operatic highlights, in Morcott church.

The superb 18-strong choir is joined by guest soloists Nick Hardy (Opera North), Joanne Rondel and Judith Tinston. All the friends come together under the leadership of George Robey.

The first half (about 45 minutes) of the programme is Gilbert & Sullivan’s brilliant ‘Comic Opera in One Act’ Trial by Jury. After a relaxed interval during which wine and soft drinks will be available to buy, as well as raffle tickets, the second half of the concert will begin. This is a mix of ‘operatic hits’ including a show-stopping Nessun Dorma and other pieces arranged specially for the concert by choir members.

Amici has performed across the UK for 20 years, from Manchester’s Concert Halls to the stately homes of England, and on TV for programmes such as Songs of Praise. We are very lucky to have a choir of this standard come to Morcott.

Tickets are now on sale! £12.50 from Alison Johnson on 01572 747 381 or by email to alisonejohnson (at) aol (dot) com

  • Please arrive from 7pm, for ‘curtain up’ at 7.30pm.
  • Morcott church has unreserved seating, so don’t be late!
  • Interval refreshments & raffle.

This is a fundraiser, principally for Morcott Church, with a contribution made to the other churches in our group, who are helping us with arrangements and selling tickets.
